Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Staff of the State Security Service (SSS) department in the Tashkent region, together with the regional interior department, have broken up the activity of a group that organised the illegal obtaining of international SAT certificates in mathematics and English by citizens, the SSS said.
According to the agency, most members of the group were students of a branch of a European university in Tashkent.
Another member was a student of a branch of a university from one of Asia's leading countries. In the building of a private school in the Yangihayot district, they organised a so-called "bunker".
A specialist from an IT company secretly gained access to the system and made it possible to solve the test tasks.
After that, the students answered questions remotely instead of the applicants.
In addition, one member of the group demanded US$1,500 from each of five citizens who wanted to obtain SAT certificates.
Money was received from one of them through a crypto wallet.
A criminal case has been opened against the members of the group under Article 168 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code (fraud).
Investigative actions are currently being carried out.
