Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent has prepared proposals to develop its education infrastructure in 2027, including the creation of 12,390 additional school places and 2,040 preschool places.
The projects are proposed for inclusion in the 2027 Social and Production Infrastructure Development Programme, the Tashkent city administration said.
The proposals were prepared in response to population growth in the capital and rising demand for additional educational places.
A working group led by Tashkent Deputy Mayor Durdona Rakhimova, together with district administrations, assessed the capacity of educational institutions, the number of students and pupils, and the need for additional places across the city’s districts.
In general secondary education, the construction of two new schools is planned. Each school will have capacity for 1,980 students, bringing the combined capacity of the two facilities to 3,960 places.
Another 8,430 school places are planned through school reconstruction and the construction of additional buildings.
In Mirzo-Ulugbek district, additional capacity is planned at School No. 221 with 960 places and School No. 171 with 990 places. In Yashnabad district, School No. 152 will have 990 additional places, while School No. 55 in Sergeli district will have 990.
In Yunusabad district, an additional building at School No. 302 will provide 660 places, while an additional building at School No. 132 in Shaykhantakhur district will also provide 660 places. School No. 228 in Uchtepa district is planned to receive 990 places, School No. 133 in Almazar district 1,200 places, and School No. 8 in Yangikhayot district 990 places.
In addition, major repairs are planned for Schools No. 178 and No. 90 in Chilanzar district and School No. 172 in Yakkasaray district.
In preschool education, the proposals provide for reconstruction and the construction of additional buildings at four institutions. Preschool Institution No. 140 in Shaykhantakhur district will receive 210 places, No. 229 will receive 240 places, No. 517 in Yashnabad district will receive 240 places, and No. 277 in Almazar district will receive 240 places.
Major repairs are proposed for Preschool Institutions No. 200, No. 496 and No. 526 in Chilanzar district and No. 333 in Mirzo-Ulugbek district.
The city administration said the projects were prepared based on the actual needs of the capital’s districts.
The proposals have been submitted for inclusion in the state programme for the development of social and production infrastructure for 2027.
