Tashkent Hosts Seminar on Foreign Trade Forecasting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A practical seminar on foreign trade forecasting is being held in Tashkent from 6 to 9 July 2026, organized by the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Professors and experts from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany are conducting the sessions. Participants are studying modern approaches to foreign trade analysis and forecasting, including gravity modeling and computable general equilibrium models.

The seminar brings together representatives from the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, alongside other government agencies responsible for foreign trade and economic development. Using Uzbekistan's statistical data, the participants are modeling various trade development scenarios and gaining practical experience in applying advanced analytical tools.

Following the event, the parties plan to continue cooperation on preparing pilot studies, introducing international best practices, and developing evidence-based approaches to trade policy.

The seminar is being held as part of a joint initiative by the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and GIZ aimed at strengthening institutional capacity in the field of foreign trade forecasting.
