Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov has completed his participation in the 2026 Candidates Tournament, held in Cyprus, with a total score of 10 points after 14 rounds.

In the final, 14th round, Sindarov drew with Chinese grandmaster Wei Yi. As a result, the Uzbek player finished the tournament with 10 points out of a possible 14, while his opponent ended the event with 7 points and placed fourth overall.

In other final-round games, Anish Giri defeated Matthias Blübaum, while Fabiano Caruana won against Andrey Esipenko. Giri finished second with 8.5 points, and Caruana took third place with 7.5 points.

Hikaru Nakamura and Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa played a draw. Nakamura finished fifth with 6.5 points, while Blübaum and Praggnanandhaa shared sixth and seventh places with 6 points each. Esipenko closed the standings in last place with 4.5 points.

Following the tournament, Javokhir Sindarov secured the right to compete in the World Chess Championship match against reigning world champion Dommaraju Gukesh.
