The second round of the elections of the MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan will be held on 4 January 2015, Deputy Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan Svetlana Artikova stated.
As earlier reported, the elections of the MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan took place on 21 December 2014.
She said that four candidates competes for MP mandate in 127 electoral districts from 135 districts to election of MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and three candidates in 8 electoral districts.
Over 18.49 million people from 20.789 million citizens casted their ballots during the elections, which made up 88.94% of the voters.
She said that MPs were elected in 113 electoral districts. The movement of entrepreneurs and business people – The Liberal-Democratic party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) won 47 seats, Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish – 28, People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan – 21, Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Adolat – 17 seats.
Artikov said that 31 people are representatives of economy sphere, 26 – education sphere, 33 – lawyers, 21 – representatives of production sphere, 7 – healthcare sphere, 3 – public organizations and 7 – other spheres.
Svetlana Artikova said that six people are under age of 29, 39 people – between 30 and 39, 44 people – between 40 and 49. Some 43 MPs have Master degrees, degrees of candidates and science of doctors.
Among elected are representatives of various nations – Uzbeks, Karakalpaks, Russian, Tajiks, Kazakhs and Koreans. About 21 of elected MPs from 128 are women.
She underlined that 38 MPs were re-elected to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis. Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan elected 15 MPs to the Legislative Chamber at its election conference.
Artikov said that the second round of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan will be held at 22 electoral districts. The Central Election Commission adopted the decision on approval of the programme of measures on preparing and holding the second round of elections on 4 January 2015, she said.
She said that the second round of elections will be held in Karkalpakstan Republic, Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Navoi, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Khorezm, Kashkadarya regions and Tashkent city (one electoral district each), Namangan and Tashkent regions (two electoral districts each), Ferghana region (three electoral districts) and Surkhandarya region (five electoral districts).
Two candidates, who collected the most votes, will participate in each electoral districts in the second round of elections.
Some 15 candidates to MPs from Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish”, 11 candidates from People’s Democratic Party, nine candidates from UzLiDeP and 9 candidates from Social-democratic party of Uzbekistan “Adolat” will participate in the second round of elections, Artikova noted.
She added the candidate, who will receive the most votes in the second round of the elections to the parliament, will win the seat at the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
