Samarkand Delegation Studies US Healthcare System
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from the Samarkand region is conducting a working visit to the United States to study advanced practices in healthcare management and explore new cooperative projects with American partners, according to UzDaily.uz.
The delegation includes representatives from the regional governor's office, the public healthcare system, and the private medical sector, including the Meros International Hospital clinic.
A central objective of the trip is to deepen collaboration with the US-based non-governmental organization Project C.U.R.E., while examining modern approaches to medical facility management, healthcare delivery, and technology integration.
The groundwork for the visit was established earlier this year during a working trip to the US by Samarkand regional governor Adiz Boboev. Following initial discussions with Project C.U.R.E. leadership, specialists from the organization conducted field assessments across 10 medical facilities in the Samarkand region to evaluate their equipment and inventory needs. Those evaluations resulted in an agreement for Project C.U.R.E. to donate US$10 million worth of medical equipment and supplies to the region's institutions. The prepared supplies are currently stored in Project C.U.R.E. warehouses and are scheduled for container delivery to Samarkand.
During the ongoing visit, the delegation is holding talks with executives and experts from Project C.U.R.E. and leading US healthcare institutions. Discussions focus on modern management models, clinical practices, medical logistics, facility modernization, and technology adoption.
The delegation is also targeting the growth of Samarkand's private medical sector. Delegates are meeting with American counterparts to discuss management practices, medical technologies used in private clinics, international partnership opportunities, and joint investment projects.
As part of the itinerary, the delegation met with Uzbekistan's Ambassador to the United States Furkat Sidikov at the Uzbek Embassy in Washington. The talks covered expanding interregional healthcare cooperation, leveraging the expertise of Uzbek professionals living abroad, and launching new initiatives. Additional meetings were held with representatives of Islamic Relief USA and Project C.U.R.E. to address the supply of modern equipment and essential medical items, the expansion of humanitarian medical assistance, and long-term partnership development.
The visit is expected to result in enhanced cooperation with Project C.U.R.E., upgrades to the material and technical base of regional medical facilities, and the implementation of modern healthcare practices across both the public and private sectors in Samarkand.
