Shavkat Mirziyoyev calls on the int’l community to unite in solving the problem of Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on 19 September, called on the international community to unite in solving the problem of Afghanistan.
The head of Uzbekistan noted that international security is directly related to the processes in Afghanistan. A new situation has emerged in this country, which requires special approaches to solving the Afghan issue.
“It would be a big mistake to leave Afghanistan alone with its problems again. Ignoring, isolating and imposing sanctions are aggravating the situation of the ordinary Afghan people,” the President said.
“We believe that humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people should not weaken. We call for the development of appropriate mechanisms to direct Afghanistan’s frozen international assets to solve acute social problems in this country,” he emphasized.
“We need a peaceful and stable Afghanistan that participates in regional cooperation processes and is open to mutually beneficial partnerships with its neighbors and other countries,” he added.
“Speaking today from this high rostrum, I call on the world community to unite in solving the problem of Afghanistan. In this regard, I consider it fundamentally important, under the leadership of the United Nations, to develop a coordinated and constructive position on Afghanistan,” said President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
