Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a project to create the country’s first national vehicle under the DOST brand, presented by ADM Global.
The presentation took place during the president’s visit to New Uzbekistan University, held as part of events marking Teachers and Mentors Day.
During the visit, the president toured ADM’s technical laboratory, where students are working with engineers from the ADM Jizzakh automotive plant to develop the vehicle.
The creation of a national automotive brand is expected to be the next step in the development of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry and its domestic engineering capabilities. The project is intended to reduce dependence on external constraints, enable wider use of proprietary technical solutions and provide greater independence in product development.
ADM Jizzakh is the country’s first private multi-brand automotive plant. Its experience producing vehicles under international brands and its existing production facilities are expected to support the development and future production of vehicles under its own brand.
ADM is currently developing the concept of the future model and preparing the production site. At the initial stage, DOST will be introduced in the light commercial vehicle segment.
This will allow the company to assess demand for the national brand, refine product and marketing solutions and prepare for the development of a passenger car. ADM plans to present the first DOST passenger car prototype early next year.
Another focus of the project is the development of engineering expertise. ADM Global is systematically investing in training specialists for Uzbekistan’s automotive industry.
With the holding’s support, an engineering ecosystem is being developed at New Uzbekistan University, bringing together education, research and development (R&D) and production.
The educational model is based on the standards of leading global automakers and combines fundamental training with work on real-world engineering tasks.
Students apply their knowledge in practice and work alongside ADM engineers on the development of the national vehicle.
