Michael Pompeo to visit Uzbekistan in February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo will visit Uzbekistan from 2 to 3 February. This was reported by the press services of the US Department of State.

During the visit, the head of the US State Department will hold talks with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.

In Tashkent, the US Secretary of State will attend a ministerial meeting in the format of “Central Asia - USA” (C5 + 1).

The meeting participants will discuss issues of regional cooperation, in particular, ways to enhance economic cooperation, strengthen border security, as well as the integration of Afghanistan into the trade and transport systems of Central Asia.

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo planned to visit Uzbekistan in January 2019. But the visit was postponed due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East.
