Malaysian company to start production of agricultural drones in Yangiyul in 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Malaysian company Meraque Group Snd Bhd plans to establish the production of agricultural drones in Yangiyul.

It is important to emphasize that modern agriculture is significantly different from traditional concepts, largely due to the widespread introduction of advanced technologies and scientific achievements in the sector.

In recent years, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, has become widespread. In this regard, the khokim (governor) of the Yangiyul district, O. Ataullaev, held a meeting with representatives of one of the leading Malaysian companies specializing in agricultural technologies, Meraque Group Snd Bhd.

The company’s president, Li Ismail, after studying the natural climatic conditions and soil-landscape features of the district, noted that Yangiyul is an ideal location for the application of modern drone technologies in agricultural activities such as growing melons and cereals. Moreover, these UAVs have already proven their effectiveness in conducting agrochemical operations.

It should be reminded that in February 2024, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the company on a program for the localization of agricultural machinery and drone production.

To implement the agreements, both sides signed several contracts, including investments totaling US$3 million. The production of equipment is planned to begin in July 2026, with the use of local personnel.
