Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake was recorded in Uzbekistan at 01:40 local time on 20 May 2026, with its epicenter located in the Karakul district of the Bukhara region, according to the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring.
The seismic focus was at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter coordinates were given as 40.27 degrees north latitude and 63.1 degrees east longitude. The distance from the epicenter to Tashkent was approximately 527 kilometers to the southwest.
Tremors were felt in several regions of the country. In the Bukhara region, shaking reached an intensity of 2–3 points at a distance of around 127 kilometers from the epicenter, while in the Navoi region tremors of up to 2 points were recorded at a distance of approximately 194 kilometers.
