Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Kamilla Rakhimova made a winning start to her qualifying campaign at the Wuhan Open, a WTA 1000 tennis tournament in China, defeating American Sofia Kenin in straight sets.

Rakhimova won the match 6-0, 6-3 to advance in the qualifying competition.

Kenin won the Australian Open in 2020 and reached the final of the French Open later that season. She previously climbed to fourth in the world rankings.

The victory gives Rakhimova a positive start in her bid to qualify for the main draw of the Wuhan Open.

Her upcoming matches will determine whether the Uzbek tennis player secures a place in the tournament's main draw.
