Ferghana Region and Afghanistan Expand Trade and Investment Ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ferghana region and Afghanistan have agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint investment projects in construction, textiles, agriculture, and aviation, according to the Ferghana regional administration.

The expansion of bilateral cooperation was discussed during a meeting between Ferghana Region Khokim Khayrullo Bozorov, Abdul Hafiz Faryadi, head of the Afghan state corporation Spinzar Kunduz, and Zamarai Kamgar, chairman of Kam Air airlines.

The talks built upon agreements reached during a visit by a Ferghana regional delegation to Afghanistan on 26–27 July 2026. That trip included official meetings and business dialogues focused on developing trade, economic, and investment ties, leading to the opening of Ferghana region trading houses in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif. During the latest meeting, the parties discussed moving from existing agreements to the practical execution of joint initiatives and the launch of new investment projects.

Afghan entrepreneurs expressed interest in partnering with local businesses in Ferghana region across several key sectors, specifically construction, textiles, agriculture, and aviation.

Bozorov noted the steady development of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, stating that the recent delegation visit opened opportunities for new initiatives and expanded practical cooperation. The regional khokim emphasized the need to effectively utilize available opportunities to launch joint projects with Afghan business representatives and advance collaboration in each targeted area.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of joint investment projects, ensure the fulfillment of previously reached agreements, and elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level.
