Earthquake of Magnitude 4 Recorded in Bukhara Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the night of 22 May 2026, a magnitude 4 earthquake was recorded on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, according to the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring.
The epicenter of the underground tremors was located in the Jondor district of the Bukhara region at a depth of 10 km. The geographic coordinates of the epicenter were 40.28° north latitude and 63.19° east longitude.
According to observation data, the tremors were felt in several settlements across the country. In the city of Gazli, an intensity of 3 points was recorded at a distance of 28 km from the epicenter. In Peshkun district, the intensity reached 2–3 points at a distance of 38 km. In Karakul district, the intensity was 2 points at 56 km, while in Jondor district it was 2 points at 57 km.
The distance from the epicenter to the capital city is 519 km in a south-western direction.
This is the third earthquake recorded on the territory of Uzbekistan within the past 24 hours.
