“Soueast” — from the English “South East”
Soueast Motor was founded in 1995 in Fuzhou (Fujian province) as a joint venture between China Motor Corporation (Taiwan), Chery, and Fujian Motor Industry Group; it historically built Mitsubishi-based models. Since 2021 the brand has come under Chery Holding's operational control and pivoted to in-house-developed crossovers.
Distinguishing feature
Soueast remains one of the few Chinese brands with historical roots in Taiwan; today it relies on Chery's platforms and technology but keeps its own dealer network and lineup (DX3, DX7, S06).
