In China it was originally called Shenlan ("deep blue"), but for international markets the company picked the more pronounceable Deepal — a name even the Chinese consumer site now uses.
Distinguishing feature
Huawei is a key partner, supplying the software that runs Deepal's cars. In late 2023, Deepal began export sales, with Thailand as its first market abroad — a clear signal of ambitions beyond China.
