Yangwang (pronounced "YANG-wong") is BYD without compromise: hybrid and battery-electric vehicles at the ultra-luxury, hypercar end of the market. The logo is the Jiaguwen character for lightning or electricity, and the brand was first in the world to launch the e4 individual wheel-drive (IWD) platform.

Distinguishing feature

The first model, the U8 SUV, debuted January 5, 2023 in Guangzhou and went on sale that same April. At the same event, BYD chief Wang Chuanfu unveiled the U9 hypercar on DiSus suspension, sprinting 0-100 km/h in 2 seconds — a number that puts Yangwang alongside the world's top supercars, not just premium EVs.
