Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In St. Petersburg, business and investment opportunities of Tashkent were presented to representatives of city companies. The presentation took place as part of a meeting between the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, and the Deputy Governor of Tashkent, Sharof Rakhmanov, the press service of the city administration reported.

According to Alexander Beglov, for the first time in the last few years, Uzbekistan is one of the 20 leading trading partners of St. Petersburg.

He noted that Uzbekistan and St. Petersburg could cooperate in medicine, tourism and the humanitarian sphere.

Beglov proposed holding a videoconference with the participation of business structures of both cities to develop trade and economic ties.

The governor noted that St. Petersburg is aimed at expanding trade and economic ties with Tashkent and is interested in the speedy implementation of the project to create the “St. Petersburg Trading House” there.

The trading house will present products from leading enterprises of St. Petersburg. “I propose to open a showroom of St. Petersburg goods in Tashkent in 2024 as the first stage,” said Alexander Beglov.

The head of the city said that in the fall of 2024, the “Leningrad Monument” will be erected in the capital of Uzbekistan, which will be a tribute to the Uzbek people for receiving the evacuated residents of besieged Leningrad.
