Swiss Ambassador warns Uzbek citizens about fraudulent job offers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Swiss Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Konstantin Obolensky, has issued a warning to Uzbek citizens regarding fraudulent job offers.
According to the ambassador, the embassy has recently received an increasing number of reports from individuals who have encountered fake job vacancies and counterfeit work permits.
He emphasized that scammers, posing as employers or official representatives, are offering non-existent jobs in Switzerland and demanding money transfers for document processing.
The diplomat reminded that work visas for Switzerland can only be obtained through the Regional Consular Center at the Swiss Embassy in Moscow, as the embassy in Tashkent does not provide such services. Moreover, obtaining a work permit is the employer's responsibility, not the applicant's.
To avoid falling victim to fraud, job seekers are advised to thoroughly verify the authenticity of job offers by contacting potential employers directly, ensuring that documents come from official authorities or registered companies, and never transferring money for visa or permit processing. In case of suspected fraud, the embassy recommends reporting the matter to law enforcement authorities.
For legitimate employment abroad, it is advised to seek assistance from the Migration Agency, its regional branches, or licensed private employment agencies, which can help mitigate the risks associated with illegal employment schemes.
