Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Reconstruction and modernization work has begun at the Gishtkuprik border and customs post on the border of Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan (on the Kazakh side, the Jibek Joly checkpoint).

Chairman of the State Customs Committee Akmalkhuja Mavlonov visited the checkpoint and got acquainted with the ongoing work.

The checkpoint will continue to operate during the reconstruction. The movement of transport and individuals will be carried out in parallel.

As part of the reconstruction, the territory of the post will be expanded by 1.5 hectares. As a result, the throughput capacity of the post will increase from 350 to 1,000 vehicles and from 30,000 to 50,000 individuals.

It is also planned to upgrade the road with a length of 11 km, going to the checkpoint from the post "Uch kahramon" at the entrance to Tashkent. Roadside infrastructure will be created.
