Weather radar installed in Kagan district of Bukhara region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- This year, the installation of meteorological radar equipment (SRL) in Kagan district of Bukhara region was completed.

For this reason, the leadership of Uzhydromet, weather forecasters and media representatives arrived in Bukhara to discuss issues related to the reception, processing and use of information from meteorologists on information technology and meteorological radar maintenance.

In accordance with the programs approved by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 17 November 2020 No. PP-4896, in 2021-2023, Uzhydromet in the republic will introduce modern means of remote sensing and radar by installing meteorological radars in the Bukhara region, which are tasked with ensuring the functioning of weather-dependent sectors of the economy and security population.

In order to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks set by this decision, an agreement was concluded with the Finnish company VAISALA OyJ (manufacturer / supplier) for the supply, installation and commissioning of meteorological radar equipment.

At the same time, on 16 February 2022, a specialist from VAISALA OyJ visited Uzbekistan to install meteorological radar equipment on a 15-meter metal structure in Bukhara region.

At present, in cooperation with a specialist from the company and specialists from Uzhydromet, the installation and commissioning of this equipment for a metal structure has been completed.

The weather radar, installed in cooperation with the Finnish company VAISALA OyJ, has a range of 200 km and provides information on current and expected weather events, including cloud amount and type, wind speed and direction, amount and type of precipitation (rain, hail, snow) and its duration. , displays weather maps visualizing areas where thunderstorms occur and has early warning capabilities. The data is updated every 10 minutes and is regularly transmitted to the weather radars of the meteorological information and analytical geoportal of Uzhydromet.

It should be noted that the Doppler weather radar systems of the US company "Baron Service Inc." and "C" manufactured by the German company "Selex", installed at the airports of Tashkent, Samarkand and Nukus, allows predicting the development of hail and thunderstorm processes, wind direction on the territory of Uzbekistan, horizontal speed, precipitation, monitoring the movement of clouds within the range of the radar.

Four Doppler weather radars installed in Tashkent, Samarkand, Nukus and Bukhara were another step in improving service. These locators are prepared for aviation, serve to further improve the reliability of weather forecasts, detect and predict heavy cloud cover, leading to phenomena such as heavy rain, hail, snow.

Detection of such catastrophic hydrometeorological phenomena, which have occurred so rapidly in recent years, is now also a challenge for various climate models. This means that there is a growing need for modern Doppler weather radar/radar data that can "see" long distances. An integrated product of several such devices allows real-time display of current weather processes in the atmosphere.

Meteorological radar equipment provides information on current and expected weather events within a radius of 200 km, including the course and type of cloudiness, wind speed and direction, the amount and type of precipitation (rain, snow, hail) and their duration, it will be possible to provide early warning by compiling meteorological maps by visualizing areas. where thunderstorms happen. Observation data is updated every 10 minutes and is regularly transmitted to the information portal of Uzhydromet.

In the future, as a result of combining such meteorological radars into a single platform, a unified network of ground-based meteorological radars will be created, covering the entire territory of the republic, which will ensure the stability of weather-dependent sectors of the economy and ensure public safety.
