Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 December 2022, in Tokyo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with President of the University of Tsukuba, head of the Association of National Universities of Japan Kyosuke Nagata.

The prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of education, science and training of highly qualified personnel for the economy of Uzbekistan were discussed.

Detailed information about the address of the President of Uzbekistan to the Oliy Majlis and the people was brought to the Japanese side. It was emphasized that in Uzbekistan significant efforts and funds are directed to the comprehensive development of the education system and the training of qualified personnel.

The Japanese side highly appreciated the measures taken by the Head of State for the comprehensive modernization of science and education.

Kyosuke Nagata noted that the announcement of 2023 as the “Year of Caring for People and Quality Education” is a clear manifestation of the President’s special attention to the field of education.

The President of the Association of National Universities of Japan expressed his readiness to make additional efforts to promote partnerships between the universities of the two countries.

Proposals for the creation of joint educational programs aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the fields of engineering, information technology, business administration, promotion of fundamental and applied research were considered.

An exchange of views took place on increasing the participation of Uzbek students in scholarship programs of the University of Tsukuba, as well as enhancing academic exchanges.
