Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Norov held talks with Deputy Secretary of Defense of the United States of America Colin Kahl.
An exchange of views took place on the priority areas of the Uzbek-American military and military-technical cooperation.
During the conversation, the Deputy Secretary of Defense of the United States congratulated on significant dates in the history of bilateral relations celebrated this year, in particular, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the 20th anniversary of the strategic partnership and the 10th anniversary of the partnership program with the state of Mississippi.
In addition, proposals were considered to intensify cooperation in the field of ensuring regional security, combating international terrorism, organized crime, illegal arms and drug trafficking.
The American side highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts to create an atmosphere of trust, partnership and good neighborliness in Central Asia, and to strengthen peace and stability in the region.
In addition, the mutual interest of Uzbekistan and the United States in preventing the escalation of the situation in Afghanistan was noted.
The importance of continuing cooperation in the field of training units of the Special Operations Forces, combat training of troops, military education, and establishing interaction between the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and leading military educational institutions of the US Department of Defense was emphasized.
