Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan intends to tighten control over large bank transfers. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the regulator, Sodir Melibaev, during an address to the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

A draft law is currently being developed to regulate the field of payment services and introduce preventive measures against violations. In particular, the implementation of anti-fraud systems and biometric technologies is planned to ensure reliable user identification amid the growing number of online payment scams.

In addition, the legislation will propose a classification system for violations committed by participants in the payment services market, dividing them into three categories: major, serious, and minor. Each category will carry its own set of sanctions.

According to Melibaev, the regulator will also be granted additional powers to strengthen consumer protection, although specific details have not yet been disclosed.
