Uzbekistan U18 Hockey Team Wins World Championship in Division IIIA

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan U18 national ice hockey team achieved a historic victory at the World Championship for Division IIIA teams, held in Hong Kong. In the decisive match, the Uzbek players convincingly defeated Israel 6-3 to claim the tournament’s gold medals.

The championship took place from 2 to 8 March. Throughout the tournament, Uzbekistan displayed consistently strong performance, winning all five of its matches. This first-place finish in the group earned the team promotion to the higher Division IIB group in the World Championship hierarchy.

Prior to the final, Uzbekistan had also secured a 5-3 victory over Bulgaria in the fourth round, bringing their total to 11 points and maintaining their lead in the standings.

The national team dedicated this historic triumph to International Women’s Day on 8 March, honoring mothers who raised champions and all women in Uzbekistan.

A formal celebration of the World Championship winners is scheduled for 10 March at Tashkent International Airport, where fans, sports community representatives, and officials will greet the team.
