Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential Decree "On additional measures to protect and ensure the rational use of pastures" was adopted.

According to the Decree, the following measures will be taken in 2023 at the expense of grants from international financial institutions in the amount of US$7.8 million:

- creation of enterprises for the production of feed for small cattle with an annual capacity of 10 thousand tons;

- organization of the Laboratory for genetic research of livestock;

- digital identification of 500 thousand heads of small cattle in astrakhan breeding farms.

Also, 800 hectares of pastures will be developed for growing grain.

According to the Decree, an exemplary pilot project will be implemented on 500 hectares of pastures to extract groundwater with solar-powered pumping units, as well as to introduce drip irrigation technology.

Until 1 August 2023:

- an inventory of pasture land areas (with the exception of forest fund lands) will be carried out, the state of pasture use and compliance with the requirements of the agreement will be studied;

- Measures will be taken in relation to cases of misuse of pasture land;

- Conducting electronic accounting of pasture land areas will be established.

Until 1 September 2023, a draft law "On pastures" in a new edition will be developed.
