Uzbekistan temporarily closes borders with Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan temporarily closes its borders with Afghanistan due to the worsening epidemiological situation in the neighboring country.

According to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the corresponding decision was made by the Special Republican Commission on Combating Coronavirus.

Uzbekistan also suspends the issuance of tourist visas to citizens of Afghanistan and the acceptance of visa applications from travel agencies.

At the same time, the following categories of citizens and vehicles are allowed through the checkpoint "Termez-Avtoyul":

employees of diplomatic missions, consular offices and international organizations and members of their families;

drivers carrying out international transportation;

citizens of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan returning home.

Persons entering Uzbekistan through the Termez-Avtoyul border checkpoint will be allowed into the country in case of a negative coronavirus infection antigen test result by express testing in special clinics or laboratories operating at the checkpoint.

Citizens of Uzbekistan who test positive for COVID-19 are sent for treatment to specialized clinics in the country.

At the same time, citizens of foreign countries with a positive result for coronavirus are not allowed on the territory of Uzbekistan.
