Uzbekistan Sees Surge in Credit Self-Bans

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The number of citizens in Uzbekistan voluntarily restricting access to credit continues to grow. According to the Credit Information Analytical Center, as of 1 April 2026, a total of 2,207,753 people have used the “Credit Ban” service.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 1.7 million new users have joined the system. At the start of the year, the number of registered users stood at 438,322, indicating a sharp increase in demand for financial fraud protection tools.

Among those who activated the restriction, 1,283,506 are men and 924,247 are women.

The mechanism allows individuals to voluntarily block the issuance of loans, microcredits, and credit cards in their name.

At the same time, users retain full control over the service and may remove or reapply the restriction at any time.

The service is available through several channels, including the KATM mobile application, direct applications to the credit bureau, the unified government services portal my.gov.uz, and public service centers.

The growing adoption of the service reflects increasing public awareness of financial security issues and efforts to protect against fraudulent lending schemes in the credit sector.
