Uzbekistan Launches US$100 Million Ceramic Tile Production Plant in Ferghana Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new enterprise, Yong Xin LLC JV, specializing in ceramic tile production, has officially started operations in the Kokand Free Economic Zone in Ferghana Region.
The plant, built with Chinese investment, has completed commissioning and begun selling its products.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Hokim of Ferghana Region, Khairullo Bozorov, investors, entrepreneurs, plant specialists, and members of the public. Speaking at the event, Bozorov highlighted that the plant’s launch is a symbolic contribution to the festive celebrations and emphasized that over the past eight years, Uzbekistan has created broad opportunities for business and entrepreneurship. Free economic zones provide employment for thousands and attract new investments.
The project is funded by direct Chinese investments totaling US$100 million, of which US$70 million has already been utilized. The plant currently employs 700 people, with the workforce expected to reach 1,000 when operating at full capacity. Equipped with modern machinery, the facility produces competitive products for both domestic and international markets.
The first batch of ceramic tiles has already been exported to Kyrgyzstan, valued at approximately US$850,000. High foreign demand opens prospects for further expansion of exports.
Project founder Sukhbatilla Mirzaev noted that production is progressing according to plan and the plant will reach full capacity within the year. He also outlined plans to expand production and deepen cooperation with international partners.
Hokim Bozorov reviewed the plant’s operations and discussed with investors the potential for increased production capacity, highlighting the significance of such projects for the socio-economic development of the region.
