Uzbekistan Launches First School for Training Artificial Intelligence Specialists

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has officially enrolled students in the Yandex ML School, the country’s first specialized educational center focused on training professionals in artificial intelligence, including machine learning, mathematical modeling, and data analysis.

Around 3,000 candidates applied for the program, and following a competitive selection process, 31 students were admitted. The academic partner of the project is New Uzbekistan University.

The program is designed for students and young professionals and begins this week. Training is entirely free and spans two semesters of intensive study. Admission required online testing and an in-person interview. The curriculum was developed with the participation of Yandex’s Data Analysis School (DAS), emphasizing a deep understanding of theoretical foundations and practical application of knowledge.

The faculty includes experts with experience on international projects and instructors from leading universities in Uzbekistan. The program covers core subjects such as mathematics, statistics, algorithms, and machine learning.

Particular attention is given to solving real-world industry problems, completing practical projects, and receiving regular feedback from mentors.

Classes are conducted in English, providing access to up-to-date international materials and enhancing graduates’ competitiveness in the global labor market. The average workload is 20–30 hours per week, including evening lectures, seminars, and independent study.

The launch of Yandex ML School marks a significant step in the development of technological education and workforce preparation for Uzbekistan’s digital economy.

The project continues Yandex’s strategy of supporting STEM initiatives — ranging from educational programs for school students and teacher training courses to professional programs for IT specialists.
