Uzbekistan Enhances Border Security with Drone Technology
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An integrated unmanned aviation complex has begun operations at one of the military units of the Border Troops of Uzbekistan’s State Security Service (SSS), according to the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel. The opening ceremony was attended by SSS Chairman Bahodir Kurbanov.
During the event, it was emphasized that in today’s rapidly changing global environment and amid growing security challenges, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has become a crucial element of modern national security systems.
The enhancement of border protection through the deployment of UAV units has significantly improved the reliability of Uzbekistan’s state border security. The report highlights that the new complex includes a situational center where representatives of various security agencies coordinate actions and make joint decisions on operational matters.
Simultaneously, the Armed Forces are working on the establishment of a unified UAV control center. This facility will oversee the planning of training activities, the management of UAV flights within Uzbekistan’s airspace, and the safe operation of unmanned systems.
More than a hundred young servicemen have already received training abroad, mastered modern UAV technologies, and are now passing on their knowledge to their peers. They train others in drone operation, tactical mission execution, and emergency response procedures — including landing in the event of technical failure or loss of communication. The training process includes hands-on sessions using simulators designed to closely replicate real combat scenarios.
Every drone undergoes mandatory diagnostics in a technical maintenance hangar before and after each flight — from checking electronic components to calibrating navigation modules.
Preparations are also underway for the launch of serial production of domestically manufactured drones, with a high degree of localization — from software to electronic components.
