Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Shaanxi Delegation Discuss Expansion of Industrial Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 March, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan held extended negotiations with a delegation from China’s Shaanxi Province, aimed at deepening economic partnership between the regions.
The meeting was led by Cao Gongquan, Head of the Department of Trade and Economic Cooperation of Shaanxi Province, who arrived in Uzbekistan to discuss concrete mechanisms for industrial and investment cooperation.
The central topic of the dialogue was strengthening direct interaction between manufacturing enterprises in Uzbekistan and Shaanxi. The parties explored in detail prospects for joint projects in strategically important sectors, including construction and design, production of high-tech electrical equipment, and the transportation industry.
The Chinese delegation expressed particular interest in investment opportunities in mining and geological exploration, metallurgy, as well as in the agro-industrial complex and the food sector of Uzbekistan’s economy.
Participants emphasized the importance of establishing direct business contacts between entrepreneurs from both countries. Experts noted that this format of engagement could act as a catalyst for practical implementation of bilateral initiatives and significantly accelerate investment processes. The global “Belt and Road” initiative was highlighted as playing a key role in this context.
Representatives also stressed the strategic significance of developing transport and logistics potential, highlighting the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project as a critical factor in enhancing regional connectivity.
The agenda included cooperation in energy, industrial production, and the digital economy. A dedicated segment of the discussion focused on preparations for a large-scale economic forum scheduled to take place in Shaanxi Province from 21 to 25 May 2026. Both sides agreed on measures to actively involve the business community in the upcoming event to facilitate exchange of practical experience and broaden commercial engagement.
Concluding the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to translate the agreements into practical action. The negotiations resulted in a decision to develop a portfolio of new joint projects and intensify contacts between business circles in Uzbekistan and Shaanxi Province to ensure long-term economic growth.
