Uzbekistan Begins Digitalization of Road Safety Management System

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has launched the digitalization of its road safety management system. The corresponding government decree, “On Additional Measures for the Digitalization of the Road Safety Sector,” was adopted on 20 January 2026.

The decree provides for the integration of the “Ma’muriy amaliyot” module of the Road Safety Service’s information system under the Department of Public Safety with the information systems of relevant ministries and agencies.

Starting February 1, 2026, new rules for state vehicle registration will take effect. These include the introduction of special series license plates for trucks with a total weight over 44 tons, specialized vehicles used in mines, quarries, and pits, non-scheduled taxis owned by legal entities, and “antique” motor vehicles.

The use and re-registration of vehicles older than 50 years is prohibited; such vehicles must be deregistered.

At the same time, the requirement to indicate the owner’s address on vehicle registration certificates is being removed.

The decree also simplifies the registration process through interagency electronic interaction. Government authorities will be able to automatically receive sales contracts, auction protocols from the joint-stock company “Organization of Electronic Online Auctions,” electronic invoices for state-owned company vehicles, as well as information about the vehicle owner.
