Uzbekistan and Bashkortostan signed a roadmap for enhancing trade and economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 December, Tashkent hosted the 26th meeting of the Uzbekistan–Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. The event was attended by the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov.

The Russian delegation was accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev.

During the meeting, participants highlighted the steady growth in bilateral trade: in 2024, trade exceeded US$10 billion, up more than five percent, and in the first nine months of 2025, mutual trade increased by an additional eight percent. Positive trends were observed in both exports and imports.

“In a similar vein, investment cooperation is also expanding. More than 3,000 enterprises with Russian participation operate in Uzbekistan, representing around 20 percent of all foreign-invested companies in the country,” noted Denis Manturov.

The meeting also focused on developing cultural and humanitarian ties and organizing joint congresses and exhibitions to strengthen bilateral engagement.

As a result of the discussions, Jamshid Khodjaev and Radiy Khabirov signed a roadmap for enhancing trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan’s regions and Bashkortostan. The document envisions expanded collaboration in industrial cooperation, investment policy, agriculture, trade, tourism, education, culture, sports, and other areas.

According to official data, Uzbekistan ranks seventh in Bashkortostan’s foreign trade, accounting for 4.2 percent of total trade. Last year, bilateral turnover reached US$197.9 million, marking a 16.7 percent increase.

Radiy Khabirov also took part in the plenary session of the Russia–Uzbekistan Business Forum, held as part of the intergovernmental commission’s activities. Over 50 Russian business representatives attended, including entrepreneurs from Bashkortostan engaged in industry, energy, logistics, and digital technologies.
