Uzbekistan adopts human rights education program

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential resolution “On the approval of the National Program for Human Rights Education in the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on 7 February 2023.

According to the Program, starting from the 2023/2024 academic year, training and special courses "Human Rights", "Women's Rights", "Children's Rights" are being introduced in the system of vocational and higher education. Until 1 June 2023, a specific list of professional and higher educational organizations will be compiled, in which the above courses will be introduced.

From 1 June 2023, the National Center for Human Rights will annually hold the national competition "Education and Innovation in the Field of Human Rights and Freedoms". Training courses and seminars are also being opened - trainings on the rights of persons with disabilities, women, children and migrants in organizations whose activities are directly related to these categories of persons.

Until 1 April 2023, it was instructed to take measures to prepare and publish a series of manuals and brochures, as well as to launch an Electronic Platform for Human Rights Education.

Starting from 1 March 2023, short-term training courses on combating the use of torture will be organized on an ongoing basis for employees of bodies carrying out pre-investigation checks, inquiries, preliminary investigations, and penitentiary institutions, Norma reports.
