Uzbek President Begins Visit to Syrdarya Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 December, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev began a working visit to the Syrdarya region, starting with a tour of the pharmaceutical company River Med Pharm in Syrdarya District. The company is one of the country’s key producers of infusion medications, accounting for about 20% of Uzbekistan’s total output of infusion solutions.

Infusion medications are among the most critical medical products. Their production requires complex technological processes and strict adherence to sterility, as these solutions are administered directly into the bloodstream. Any deviation from standards can affect patient safety, so the enterprise operates according to stringent international requirements.

The project is valued at over US$30 million. The factory employs 750 staff, with an annual production capacity of 114 million units across 70 product lines, amounting to approximately 135 billion UZS. About one-fifth of the products are exported, reflecting stable demand in international markets.

In November, the second phase of the project was launched, expanding production lines. Plans include producing 30 million units of infusion solutions, over 70 million units of dry antibiotics, and nearly 20 million units of eye and nasal drops. The President reviewed current results and received a presentation on the company’s development plans.

Management stated that the product range will expand to 200 items. In the coming years, the plant will begin producing injectable solutions in glass and plastic vials, as well as tablets and capsules, with employment expected to grow to around 1,000.

During the visit, the President met with local leaders and engaged in an open discussion on economic development, industry, agriculture, and youth training programs. He emphasized that the success of reforms largely depends on citizens’ initiative and their willingness to participate in change.

“Changes must be felt first and foremost in the mahallas. We need to stay in constant contact with the people and guide the youth in the right direction. If everyone shows initiative, our actions and reforms will certainly bring results. We came to Syrdarya with ambitious plans, and we can achieve them only together,” said President Mirziyoyev.
