Uzbek population’s deposits reach 3.52 trln. soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 April 2012, the volume of deposits of individuals - residents in commercial banks on local and foreign currency accounts was 3.52 trillion soums and increased in comparison with the beginning of the current year by 7.4% (243.5 billion soums).

As of 1 April 2012, the savings of individuals on foreign currency accounts in soum equivalent amounted to 660.8 billion soums (18.8% to the total volume of deposits) and have increased by 16.5%.

According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, five banks of Uzbekistan accounted 66.3% of total savings of population or 2.33 trillion soums.

About 24% (845.5 billion soums) of deposits of population fell to share of People’s Bank of Uzbekistan, 15.3% (536.9 billion soums) – Agrobank, and 11.4% (401.7 billion soums) – NBU.

The committee said that share of Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank made up 8.1% and 6.6% respectively in the reporting period. Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank accounted 7.8% of deposits each.

The State Statistics Committee said that population of Uzbekistan preferred to deposit hard currencies at the deposits of Kapitalbank (21.6%), NBU (19.8%) and Asaka Bank (15.6%), as well as Hamkorbank (13.3%).
