Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Tashkent, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov met with the Chairman of the Board of ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) Muhammad Abdullah Abunayan.
During the negotiations, the current partnership, including the construction of thermal power plants and wind farms, as well as the prospects for cooperation, was discussed.
The Uzbek side noted with satisfaction the planned construction and installation work by the Saudi company within the framework of the project for the construction of a new thermal power plant (TPP) with a capacity of 1,500 MW near the Syrdarya TPP. At present, work is underway at the project site to strengthen the soil, and the construction of the shift camp has been completed.
In January 2021, an investment agreement was signed with ACWA Power, according to which the company intends to build two wind farms in the Bukhara region. During the meeting, the Uzbek side noted that it was looking forward to the completion of anemometric studies on the construction of this wind farm.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Energy also expressed gratitude for the contribution of ACWA Power to the creation of a specialized training center at the College of Energy in Shirin.
