Uzbek Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Precious Metals Operations in Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Tashkent Region, a joint operation by the State Security Service and law enforcement agencies has disrupted the activities of groups suspected of engaging in the illegal circulation of precious metals.

According to law enforcement, the investigative and operational measures were carried out in Akhangaran District, as well as in the cities of Angren and Almalyk, as part of broader efforts to stabilize the criminal situation and dismantle organized crime schemes.

During searches conducted in accordance with procedural regulations at the homes of nine individuals, authorities seized a total of 17.5 tons of sand and stones containing precious metals. In addition, law enforcement confiscated processing equipment and tools, 135 grams of gold, 25 grams of marijuana, one hunting firearm, and 42 rounds of ammunition.

The seized items have been sent for expert examination. Pre-investigative checks are currently underway regarding the detected violations.
