Two Uzbekistan Airways and Air Samarkand flights diverted due to fog in Termez

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, two passenger flights bound for Termez Airport (TMJ) were forced to land at alternate airports due to heavy fog.

The first flight, HY-9610 from Moscow (VKO) to Termez (TMJ), operated by Uzbekistan Airways using an Airbus A320-251NEO (UK32028), was diverted to Karshi International Airport (KSQ) as visibility at Termez Airport was only 100 meters, making landing unsafe. The crew decided to proceed to the alternate airport in the interest of passenger safety.

The second flight, 9S2406 from Jeddah (JED) to Termez (TMJ), operated by Air Samarkand using an Airbus A321-251NEO (UK32121), was also forced to alter its route due to poor weather conditions, with visibility in Termez reduced to 50 meters. The flight landed at Samarkand International Airport (SKD).

Passengers from both flights were provided with the necessary assistance and comfort at the airports in Karshi and Samarkand.

Further information regarding the transfer of passengers to Termez will be issued by the airlines. This incident highlights the importance of alternate airports and the professionalism of flight crews in handling adverse weather conditions.
