Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent Metropolitan University (TMU) has joined forces with the English Language Institute of Florida International University (FIU) to enhance English-language education in Uzbekistan.

The two institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore collaborative initiatives focused on advancing the professional development of English-language educators.

This relations highlights a shared commitment to promoting global educational excellence and fostering cross-cultural exchange.

Under the MOU, FIU and TMU agree to establish close communication to explore the current and emerging educational needs of TMU English-language teachers and professors via FMU’s non-credit Professinal Development Programs for language teachers and professors, who meet all FMU program requirements. Both institutions will also explore additional opportunities for further training and collaboration.

The training will emphasize modern teaching methodologies, innovative instruction techniques, and pedagogical best practices.

Speaking about the relationship, TMU’s Vice President of Academic Affairs, Aziz Islamkhodjaev, emphasized its significance in equipping educators with cutting-edge skills. "By collaborating with FIU, we aim to elevate the quality of English-language education in Uzbekistan and prepare our faculty to meet evolving global standards," he said.

Laura Lamour Burns, Director of FIU English Language Institute, echoed this sentiment, expressing FIU’s pride in sharing its expertise. "This initiative aligns with our mission to drive international engagement and support educators worldwide," she stated.

Through this collaboration, TMU and FIU aim to enhance the effectiveness of English-language teaching in Uzbekistan, ensuring that educators are well-prepared to meet the demands of an increasingly interconnected world.
