Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Tashkent conference to become an effective platform in the search for solutions to the many problems of Afghanistan. Munir Mammadzade, head of the UNICEF office in Uzbekistan, said this at a plenary session of the high-level international conference "Afghanistan: security and economic development", held on 26 July in Tashkent.

According to Mammadzade, in order to normalize the socio-economic situation in Afghanistan and create the well-being of the people, it is necessary to form stable platforms for cooperation on the Afghan issue.

In this regard, he paid special attention to the steps taken by Tashkent in the Afghan direction. According to him, the educational center in Termez acts as a unique platform for providing Afghan youth with quality education.

The importance of the logistics hub created in 2021 in Termez was also emphasized. According to the UNICEF representative, this Center serves as the optimal corridor for the provision of humanitarian assistance from UN funds to Afghanistan.

At the same time, M. Mammadzadeh concluded that the current event should take an important place in the new history of Afghanistan and become an effective platform for finding solutions to many problems in Afghanistan, including ensuring the rights of Afghan citizens, in particular women, and also contribute to the economic recovery of this country.

Special representatives for Afghanistan from more than 20 states of Central and South Asia, Europe, America, the Near and Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region took part in the conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the ISMI. 

In addition, heads and specialists of international and regional organizations such as the UN, EU, FAO, ECO, OIC, SCO were represented at the conference. Among the invited leaders and experts from leading think tanks of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, including from all countries of Central Asia, Russia, the United States, Iran, Pakistan, India and Belgium. I

n particular, among the invited "think tanks" are such structures as the Observer Research Foundation, the Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis (India), the Center for Global and Strategic Studies, the Islamabad Institute for Political Studies (Pakistan), the Johns Hopkins Institute for Central Asian and Caucasian Studies (USA), institutes for strategic studies under the presidents of Central Asian countries and others.
