The results of the activities of the Youth Parliament under the Senate have been summed up

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A reporting session of the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was held on 24 February this year. It was attended by senators, members of the Youth Parliament and representatives of the media.

The Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva spoke at the meeting and noted that in recent years all conditions have been created in our country to support youth, in particular, the Council for Youth Affairs, the Agency for Youth Affairs, youth parliaments under the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the Youth Academy under the Ministry innovative development. On their basis, a new system of work with youth has been established.

She also emphasized that at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the head of our state, in his historic speech in Uzbek, stressed that the protection of the rights of youth is always in the spotlight.

In particular, it was noted that the implementation of initiatives that are relevant at the international level and put forward by the President of the country on holding the World Conference on Youth Rights under the auspices of the United Nations, on the presentation of the draft Convention on the Rights of Youth at the tenth forum of the UN Economic and Social Council, on the establishment of the Institute of Special Rapporteur on Youth Rights, requires, above all, the active work of the members of the Youth Parliament.

At the reporting session, the work done by the Youth Parliament during 2020, priority tasks for 2021, issues of assigning members of the Youth Parliament to senators based on the traditions of Ustoz-Shogird and other issues were discussed.

It was noted that in recent years all conditions have been created in our country for young people to show themselves not only as a creator of tomorrow, but also as a decisive force of today.

The purpose of this is to create opportunities for young people to fully realize their talents and abilities, good aspirations, increase their social and political activity, and take a worthy place in life.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Youth Parliament informed in detail about the work carried out by the Youth Parliament under the Senate to protect the interests of young people in the regions, bring their problems to the public, including disclosing them from the rostrum of the parliament, and ensuring youth participation in lawmaking.

Thus, in order to increase the efficiency of control and analytical activities, members of the Youth Parliament organized 22 international and local online conferences, round tables and seminars on various topics.

In order to study the problems of youth in the regions and conduct a dialogue with them, meetings were held with more than 1000 young people, questions and suggestions of concern to them were studied.

Conversations were held with 167 young people who are registered with the bodies of prevention of internal affairs in the districts and cities of Khorezm and Tashkent regions. As a result of the explanatory work carried out, recommendations were made to remove 58 of them from the preventive register, and employment of the majority of young people was ensured thanks to their involvement in circles, professional and various sports activities, based on their interests.

For the purpose of meaningful organization of leisure time for young people during the quarantine period, widespread dissemination and promotion of their native language with the participation of young students, an online review competition for knowledge of their native language was held. More than 2.5 thousand young people from all over the country took part in it, 5 thousand creative works were presented. The winners were well recognized.

Members of the Youth Parliament also regularly take part in plenary sessions of the Senate and committee meetings, sessions of local Kengashes of people’s deputies, actively participate in discussions during the preliminary consideration of laws, as well as in the preparation of analytical data for the preparation of parliamentary requests.

Thus, members of parliament at the Samarkand Forum on Human Rights on the theme "Youth 2020: Global Unity, Sustainable Development and Human Rights" took an active part in discussing the draft Convention on the Rights of Youth, put forward relevant proposals to include new standards in the draft.

In a short period of activity, members of the Youth Parliament were able to penetrate the ranks of young people in need of love and attention. In particular, the members of parliament developed and submitted to the Senate their proposals and comments on the organization, at the expense of the State budget, of teaching young people with visual impairments who study at children’s music and art schools on a paid basis, and children with visual impairments entering these educational institutions.

As a result, the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Youth, Culture and Sports sent a request from the senator to the relevant ministry. Members of the Youth Parliament played an important role in the positive solution of this issue.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Senate noted that the issues of increasing the legal literacy of youth, ensuring their employment and meaningful organization of leisure should become one of the priority areas of the Youth Parliament.

The opinions and proposals of the territorial members were also heard on this issue.

As a result of the meeting, appropriate decisions were made on the issues on the agenda.
