Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Under the chairmanship of Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Norov, a meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
The event was attended by deputies and advisers to the Minister, heads of departments and subordinate organizations of the Ministry. Through videoconferencing, the meeting was also attended by the heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of Uzbekistan abroad.
The reports of the heads of the relevant departments and diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad on topical issues of foreign policy were heard, the progress in fulfilling the tasks assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was critically analyzed, and the problems hindering the increase in the effectiveness of the department’s activities were studied.
Issues related to the activities of intergovernmental commissions, which are the main driver for the development of economic diplomacy, were discussed. An exchange of views took place on improving the functioning of the IPC with individual countries, solving identified problems and shortcomings in this direction.
The tasks of increasing the effectiveness of inter-MFA political consultations are considered separately. The importance of holding thematic meetings with foreign partners on a regular basis to coordinate efforts in order to enhance cooperation in priority areas was emphasized.
The agenda also includes an item on the activities of the Foreign Ministry to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation with foreign countries, regional and international organizations. The work done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions abroad to assist the Oliy Majlis in the implementation of the provisions of the Concept of Parliamentary Diplomacy of the Republic of Uzbekistan was considered.
Based on the results of the meeting, specific instructions were given to responsible persons.
