Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 January, the Afrosiab train running on the Bukhara-Tashkent route stopped for two hours in Chinaz district of Tashkent region. The cause was a power failure. Another train was sent for the passengers.
In accordance with the conclusions of the interdepartmental expert group created the day before, on site, it was found that the main reason for the breakage of the contact wire was a short circuit caused by the ingress of a foreign object - a flying luminous structure called "Sky Lanterns" and launched by people on holidays.
This object, launched near the railway, hit the current collector of the electric locomotive and caused a short circuit, followed by heating of the contact wire in the clamp and a power outage.
Uzbekiston Temir Yollari in order to ensure the safety of passengers and cargo along the way, as well as maintain law and order, asks not to use such items near the railway and trains. As this case has shown, such seemingly harmless things can affect traffic safety and lead to serious consequences.
In Uzbekistan, the launch of pyrotechnic products is prohibited, and administrative and criminal liability is also provided. An investigation has now been launched in due course.
