The procedure for the return of part of the funds spent on the production of films has been determined

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to raise the cinematography and the film industry to a qualitatively new level and further improve the system of state support for the industry", the procedure for covering part of the costs of creating audiovisual works from the State budget ("rebate") was approved. These include feature films and documentaries, serials, cartoons, television programs created in the territory of Uzbekistan.

According to the established procedure, the rebate system is provided for foreign and domestic film companies.

For foreign film companies, if their expenses are:

- up to 3 billion soums and does not exceed 250 million soums for one film, 10 percent of the amount spent will be returned;

-from 3 billion soums to 5 billion soums and does not exceed 650 million soums for one film - 15 percent;

-from 5 billion soums to 10 billion soums and does not exceed 1.5 billion soums for one film - 20 percent;

-more than 10 billion soums and does not exceed 3 billion soums for one film - 25 percent.

According to the results of the reporting year, domestic film companies will be refunded 50 percent of the tax amount paid for the production of films.

The decree notes that compensations determined for foreign filmmakers are paid from the republican budget and 20 billion soums will be allocated annually for these purposes.

Domestic film companies will be able to partially reimburse their costs, provided that the scripts of their films are coordinated with the Agency for the Development of Cinematography of Uzbekistan. At the same time, the rebate system does not apply to films shot at the expense of the state budget.

In addition, the decree envisages a systematic continuation of reforms aimed at developing the national cinema, improving the system of state support for this area, introducing effective mechanisms for film production in the country based on world experience, as well as creating a modern infrastructure for the film industry and developing a film distribution system in the country.
