Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By the decision of the Special Commission, as well as the joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, on 28 October 2020, the second group of Uzbek citizens staying in Abkhazia, consisting of 299 people, returned to their homeland on charter flights of Uzbekistan Airways "From Sochi, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, on 9 October, the first group of 19 citizens of the republic, consisting of vulnerable groups of the population (pregnant women, the elderly, the sick and women with children), was returned to their homeland by railway communication of Uzbekiston Temir Yollari.
At the moment, diplomats of Uzbekistan, staying in this border area, control the situation with compatriots in Abkhazia.
Currently, negotiations are underway with the Russian side regarding the organization of the repatriation of the citizens of Uzbekistan remaining in Abkhazia through the territory of the Russian Federation. In this regard, the next charter flights from Sochi are expected in the near future.
