Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 April 2022, the first meeting of the Republican Commission on enhancing the role of women in society, gender equality and the family was held. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Commission, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.

The meeting was attended by members of the Commission, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as the media.

As part of the agenda of the meeting, the Regulations of the Republican Commission on Enhancing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and the Family, its work plan for 2022, the issue of approving the Program for increasing the activity of women in public administration, the implementation of decrees and resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted in March of this year on the issues of increasing the role of women in society, gender equality and the family were considered.

As noted, today the systemic continuation of ongoing reforms to protect the rights and legitimate interests of women, increase their economic, socio-political activity, health protection, vocational training and employment, broad involvement in entrepreneurship, social support for women in need, is becoming relevant in the country. ensuring gender equality.

In order to further accelerate work in this direction, the National Program to increase the activity of women in all spheres of the economic, political and social life of the country for 2022-2026 was approved.

In order to effectively organize and coordinate the activities of ministries and departments on the basis of a unified approach in this direction, the Republican Commission on Enhancing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and the Family was established.

In order to organize this activity and at the lower level, the creation of territorial commissions in local Kengashes is envisaged.

The Commission, among its main tasks, exercises systematic control and monitoring of the implementation of legislative acts to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of women, gender equality and family support.

At the same time, the Commission assists the relevant ministries and departments, regions in ensuring the fulfillment of the tasks defined by the National Program and the plan of comprehensive measures for its implementation, and establishes strict control.

The meeting discussed the Regulations on the organization of the activities of the Commission and its work plan for 2022.

It was noted that the members of the Republican Commission are attached to the regions in order to assist in ensuring the implementation, analysis of instructions and tasks defined in the documents of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Program on Enhancing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and the Family, assisting in the correct and effective organization work of territorial commissions.

The meeting also discussed a draft program designed to increase the activity of women in public administration.

It should be noted that today the proportion of women in public administration is 27%, and the proportion of women in leadership positions does not even reach 10%.

In this direction, a curriculum for the training of women leaders "School of Women Leaders" has been developed. Now at least 100 women study at the Academy of Public Administration under this program every year.

At the meeting of the Commission, attention was also drawn to the implementation of the National Program to increase the activity of women in all spheres of the economic, political and social life of the country for 2022-2026. The information of the heads of responsible ministries and departments was heard on the points for which the deadline for execution under the Program has come.

Responsible employees were given appropriate instructions to eliminate existing shortcomings and take prompt measures in this direction.

Appropriate decisions were made on all issues discussed at the meeting of the Commission.
