The 30th republican competition of oratory in Japanese was held in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 March 2022, the 30th competition of oratory in Japanese in Uzbekistan was held at the Samarkand University of Foreign Languages. 

The event was organized by the Embassy of Japan, the Society of Japanese Teachers in Uzbekistan, Samarkand University of Foreign Languages with the assistance of the Japan Foundation, the Uzbek-Japan Center and the Representative Office of Nagoya University in Uzbekistan.

The annual competition is aimed at stimulating the educational process among students, developing public speaking skills, developing the teaching of the Japanese language in Uzbekistan, as well as deepening cultural exchange between Japan and Uzbekistan.

The competition was attended by 24 students from various educational institutions in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana and the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Among them are the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the Tashkent State University of Law, the Japanese Digital University, the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, the Karakalpak State University, the Academic Lyceum at the Tashkent State Institute of Arts, the Academic Lyceum at the SamGUI, the Uzbek-Japanese Center in Tashkent and Bukhara , Cultural and economic center of Rishtan-Japan "Noriko-Gakkyu".

According to the rules of the competition, the participants made a 5-minute speech in Japanese on a freely chosen topic, and then answered 2 questions on the content of the speech. At the same time, the expert jury assessed the level of language knowledge, the talent of rhetoric, as well as the quality of the internal content and originality of speech on the chosen topic.

The first 6 prizes were received by:

1st place - Shakhobov Javokhir, topic: "The worst person" (SamGIA)

2nd place - Khasan Mamurjonov, topic: "Part of me" (UYAC)

3rd place - Asliev Firuz, topic: "My life path" (SamGIA)

4th place - Khojaev Bekzod, topic: "The most frequently asked question" (TashGIV)

5th place - Kholmatov Dilmurod, topic: "A bird that cannot fly" (TashGUU)

6th place - Yuldoshev Javokhir, topic: "Inner flame" (UNC)

The prize-winner, who takes the first place, will participate in the Competition of oratory in Japanese among the CIS countries. The participants who took the first four places received the right to participate in the Central Asian Oratory Competition, which will be held at the end of May this year in Kazakhstan.

The competition was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Yoshinori FUJIYAMA, guests of honor represented by representatives of Japanese companies and organizations, representatives of universities, teachers of the Japanese language and students studying Japanese.
