Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 February, from a studio in Nukus, under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, a videoconference was held in the form of a video conference on the implementation of comprehensive measures aimed at accelerated socio-economic development of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The meeting was attended by heads of ministries, departments, industry associations and commercial banks, heads of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, local authorities of districts and cities of Karakalpakstan, as well as the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the progress of the work of the working groups sent earlier to the region was studied in order to analyze the current situation on the ground and identify the existing problems and needs of the population and entrepreneurs. In particular, the groups work in such areas as macroeconomic analysis, studying the implementation of structural reforms, business support issues, investment and foreign trade activities, poverty reduction, construction and infrastructure development, support for the social sphere, women and youth. The execution of instructions given during the visit of the Head of State during past visits to the region is also monitored.
Reports of group leaders were heard, instructions were given on the final formation of a list of identified issues in the context of mahallas and mechanisms for their prompt resolution. First of all, these issues are related to the need to improve the communal infrastructure of social facilities, create new jobs and implement projects aimed at reducing poverty.
Aspects of introducing a new system of work in mahallas were also considered. The responsible heads of ministries and departments, commercial banks assigned to the city of Nukus and the districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan were instructed to organize the interaction of "project groups" headed by khokims of districts and cities with 424 assistant khokims in all mahallas in order to identify untapped economic potential and develop further measures to provide practical support to entrepreneurs and exporters.
In general, in accordance with the regional investment program of the Republic of Karakalpakstan for 2022, it is planned to implement 811 projects worth US$332.1 million, which will create 14,737 new jobs.
In a separate order, the work carried out by the leaders of the regions of Uzbekistan in the framework of assigning to the relevant regions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan on the basis of the principle "Do business in Karakalpakstan" is considered. It was noted that to date, a total of 264 projects worth US $350 million have been formed, as a result of which it is planned to create 14.6 thousand new jobs. 89 of these projects, totaling US $204 million, involve the creation of new industrial enterprises. Instructions were given to develop network schedules for the implementation of initiated projects and form a set of measures to support their implementation and commissioning of facilities under construction, taking into account the issues of ensuring uninterrupted activities, establishing cooperation ties and organizing the export of manufactured products.
As a result of the meeting, the heads of ministries and departments received additional guidelines for the effective implementation of the discussed issues and tasks. During the next week, the working groups will continue their activities in the region.
